Exhibition at Kunsthalle Bielefeld, Germany
Bielefeld artist Lars Rosenbohm (born in 1971) works in an explosive area between painting and drawing. Frequently employing heavy strokes and drastic motifs, he has long explored the depiction of heads and body openings. Figures and grotesque faces appear on both drawings and canvases in order to bark or bite. The viewer is attacked, but also challenged and enchanted. Humorous digs can transform the aggressive images into human connections.
This show is a survey of Rosenbohm’s works from recent years, ranging from small, light drawings to the latest, large oil paintings, which once again prove how talented he is at developing his own visual vocabulary in the hidden areas of his medium. An extensive catalogue will accompany the exhibition, which is sponsored by the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Westfälischen Kulturarbeit and the Sparkasse Bielefeld.
